As I procrastinate for my final paper og Octavia Butler th at due tomorrow, I am pondering about what my first blog topic should be.
And I finally decide- Interracial Dating.
I know that interracial dating is somewhat of a taboo subject in the “Black Community” but I will share my thoughts anyway. After all, it is my blog.
Why does .black.girl. date interracially? Is it because .black.girl. does not find Black men attractive?
Nothing could be further from the truth. I think Black men are extremely attractive. As well as White men, Latino men, and yes- Asian men too. (Rick Yune, anyone? You must admit, he takes *great* pictures!!!)
Furthermore, as I get older, I realize that most Black men I encounter secretly desire White women. Not only do they desire White women, but many of them put down Black women in order to justify their secret fantasies. I know a lot of you have heard the hype: “Black women have too much attitude,” “Black women are obese”, “Black women only want thugs”, “Black women are too ghetto,” and all this other insanity. It’s incredible.
I can understand the argument if the only women that college-educated Black men were surrounded by were ghetto wannabe video dancers, however- I hear a lot of these lame arguments coming from Black men who are surrounded by beautiful, smart, well-behaved, and well-mannered Black women. And when I say beautiful, I mean enough to make me turn green with envy (and I think yours truly is quite the hot minx herself).
Do I seem spiteful? I hope I don’t. I have no problem with Black men dating White women. I do, however, strongly dislike Black men blaming Black women for their desires. If you like White women, then you like White women! Simple as that. It is totally unneccessary and cowardly to insult and degrade Black women in order to justify one’s own desires!
So-
Although my family would rqther have me bring bome a Black man do I can have beautiful Black children, I am pretty much open minded when ilt comes to my future mysyery man. If I jarry a Black mxn, then I marry a Black man. If I marry aa White man, then I marry a White man. Either way, I wilo not waste ny time trying to catch a man who clearly dies not want me.
Besides… Interracial dating is jst so much fun!!!
