Drake apparently listened to exactly what I told him to do and I am glad for him. He officially has signed with Young Money records but signed a distribution deal through Universal Republic. This is the new way to go if you are an artist and it is all possible for you to make such a deal. You receive so much more money per CD and do not have to structure your career around what a major label (which all are doing terrible financially) says you should or should not do with it. Drake wants this to be known as him signing with an independent and I guess it kind of is but he will have major label help in getting the songs in your hands and ears. The past 5 or so years the line really has been blurring between indie and major label artists with deals like this and major labels wanting to establish indie type labels within their own corporate structure.
